The Setup

Why Are NFC Logo Keychains Hard to Produce at Volume?

A branding consultancy came to Snap with a product that had been a constant challenge: custom keychains carrying detailed client logos, with an NFC tag inside every unit, ordered in high quantities on very quick turnarounds.

Each of those requirements fights the other two:

  • Detail: a logo that reads crisply at keychain scale leaves no room for sloppy tolerances or blurred edges, and every client's logo is different.
  • Hardware: the NFC tag makes this an assembly product, not just a print. The tag has to be embedded in every single unit without breaking the design.
  • Volume and speed: campaign deadlines don't move. High quantities are due when the client launch is due.

The Execution

How Does a New Logo Become a Production Run?

Every design gets its own DFM pass. With 100+ custom designs produced so far, the first step never gets skipped: each new logo is reviewed for how it will actually print at keychain scale, line weights, negative space, color separation, before a single unit runs.

The NFC tag is embedded during post-print assembly. This is the step most print shops don't offer at all: the tag goes into every unit in-house, so the consultancy receives finished, ready-to-hand-out product, not parts plus a kitting problem.

Repeat runs ride the 24/7 farm. Because designs stay on file and the workflow is proven, a new campaign quantity is a production run, not a new project, which is how quick turnarounds stay quick at high quantities.

Quality Control

What Does Zero Rejections Across 10,000+ Units Take?

Not one order returned. Not one order rejected. Across 10,000+ keychains and 100+ different designs.

That record isn't luck, it's what quality control looks like when it happens before the box ships instead of after a complaint. Units are checked at Snap, logo fidelity, NFC placement, finish, so problems get caught in the facility, where fixing them costs a reprint, not a client relationship.

For an agency whose own brand is on the line with every handoff to their client, that's the whole product: merchandise that shows up right, every time.
